City of Tucson COVID-19 Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance – Now Accepting Applications as of 8/17/2020

 

 

     Have you been unable to pay your rent or utilities due to COVID-19?

     The City of Tucson Mayor & Council have allocated over $4.5 million of Federal CARES Act funds to assist Tucson residents who have been impacted by the pandemic.

     What type of assistance is available?

  •  These funds will provide rental and utility assistance for late or upcoming payments for up to three months
  • The maximum funds available is $2,500 per household

     What do I need to do?

     Funds are limited so we encourage you to complete your application as soon as possible. Only one application will be accepted per household. Please note that an application is not a            guarantee of assistance. You will need to be able to provide a copy of identification, copies of bills, income and household information.

     Eligibility Criteria

  • Households must be City of Tucson residents and financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Household income for participation can not exceed 100% of Area Median Income (AMI) which is $68,400
  • A household may be assisted once for utility or rent obligations. Only charges incurred after March 1, 2020 are eligible for payment

What happens after I submit my application?

     You will be contacted by an agency representative within five days who will do a phone interview and may ask for additional information. Below is a list of the agencies working on this  program. Please do not call for status of your application until you are contacted first.

  •     Primavera
  •     Interfaith Community Services (ICS)
  •     Catholic Community Services (CCS)
  •     International Rescue Committee (IRC)
  •     City of Tucson Housing and Community Development Department

     If you are approved, the financial assistance will be sent directly to the landlord or utility company.
